Career, studies and personal

When I was offered a place to pursue my Masters in UK (way back in the year 2002), I was so happy... It was for Masters of Art in Business Law. Upon completion of the programme, I can continue my studies for another 6 months to obtain ICSA qualification. I was not in a hurry because the offer letter was valid for 2 years. While working out to apply for the study loan from various agencies, I received a shocking news - I was proposed! My feelings? As I said, it was a shocking news. It was something I didn't expect because he was still doing his Masters in UiTM. Somehow rather, at that moment I felt like flying in the sky... :)

Later after our engagement, I was in dilemma. He wanted me to cancel my plan to go to UK. Reason? He said we had a bad experience with a long distance relationship. We almost lost each other when he studied in Perlis and I was in UKM, Bangi. Haha, that's something which I can't deny. Further, according to him, he plans to pursue his PhD abroad and he suggested for me to do my Masters during that period. So, at that time, I had a second thought about pursuing my studies in UK and cancelled my plan. I then stopped applying for my study loan etc. Of course, some of my friends condemned my decision by saying i.e. I wasn't married yet so, I should give priority to my studies as it will help me to develop my career in future etc... but it was like "masuk teling kiri, keluar telinga kanan"... well, I was in love! Don't blame me ok... (or condemn...) :p.

A few months before getting married to my husband I've decided to do my Masters in UKM. But due to hectics schedule (I was working with a politician and the 2004 general election was just around the corner), I didn't attend the 1st semester's exam and of course, the result slip stated that I failed the exam. Haha, I then left the programme without making any appeal to repeat the 1st semester.

March 2004, I resume my legal practice as an advocates & solicitors... thanks to my friend Yati. I went back to litigation field & I'd really enjoyed the experience and exposures during my tenure in her firm (now she has become a partner there, congrats!). Until now, I'm still in legal practice, having my own law firm which I operate from home (it's allowed by Bar Council).

June 2009, my husband informed me that he has to secure a place for his PhD programme in Otago or Auckland by June 2010. Errrrrrrrr..... we went into discussions.... after 1 and another... until we reached an agreement/ understanding... I'll have to cease practice before January 2010 (so guys, I'm not taking any new files now for conveyancing except for corporate drafting/ litigation works - only for matters related to out of court settlement). The kids & me will follow my husband for his PhD (it's going to be for 3 years). My husband has suggested for me to find a proper work (something legal related) and also pursue my Masters there. Well, for me it's a good idea to do my LLM in New Zealand but I'm not sure how's the career opportunity over there. Still surfing the net to find the information on this...

It's like we're going to start a new life, to have a new environment and a lot of new things... hopefully it will also be good for the kids' education and future.

I love my family, my career and I also don't want to miss the opportunity of pursuing studies at Masters level. Hopefully I can balance all these 3 things in my life.

To my beloved husband, all the best! Whatever it is, I'll be by your side... :) thanks for being such a wonderful husband and daddy!
